Margareth Parua is an experienced Papua New Guinean lawyer and corporate executive with more than three decades of legal, commercial and governance experience. As the founder and principal of Parua Lawyers for over 20 years, she established and led a respected private legal practice known for its technical capability, commercial focus and client-centred service. Her career has also included senior public sector counsel roles involving complex State litigation, advisory work for the PNG Electoral Commission on significant regional matters, and international legal experience as a judge’s associate and corporate attorney in Port Moresby and Brisbane, Australia.

Combining legal strategy with corporate leadership and innovation, Margareth has played a pioneering role in PNG’s regulatory technology sector. She is a co-director of AML ISI Limited, where she led the development and launch of PNG’s first automated anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML-CTF) platform. She is also an active agribusiness investor and strategic advocate for agricultural modernisation, including through her advisory work on legislative reforms within the coffee industry.

Margareth advises major State entities and leading corporate clients on complex legal, regulatory and commercial matters, with particular strength in commercial and constitutional law, corporate governance, mining & petroleum, public sector regulation and compliance.

Her experience includes senior advisory and governance roles across PNG’s infrastructure, resources and public sectors, including board-level service as a Director of PNG Power Limited from 2023 to 2025. Earlier in her career, she served as Company Secretary and Legal Advisor to Orogen Minerals Limited and the Mineral Resources Development Company, contributing to the privatisation of State interests in the mining and petroleum sectors. Her breadth of experience positions her as a highly regarded adviser with strong capability in commercial, corporate governance and regulatory & compliance matters.
