- Bachelor of Laws (University of Papua New Guinea).
- Admitted to practise as a lawyer in Papua New Guinea in 2023.
Loretta graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea in 2022. She completed her post-graduate legal training at the PNG Legal Training Institute and was admitted to practise at the National and Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea in early 2023. Loretta has been working with Leahy Lewin Lowing Sullivan Lawyers since 24 April 2023 and is now in her fourth year of practice.
Loretta began practising in commercial litigation before fully transitioning to commercial law. She works closely with the Partners and Special Counsel in transactions, regulatory advisory work and corporate documentation.
Commercial
Loretta advises clients on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters including:
- PNG regulatory frameworks and due diligence concerning foreign investment, banking and finance, state-owned enterprises, trade, customs, cybersecurity and data protection, personal property security and AML/CTF compliance
- aircraft leasing, purchase and financing
- conveyancing and land administration work
- climate change and environmental regulation
- PNG employment law, including reviewing and drafting employment contracts
- preparing board submissions and board resolutions
Litigation
Prior to specialising in commercial work, Loretta gained litigation experience from:
- advising on court processes, manufacturer’s liability, customary land disputes, incorporated land groups and customary land, insurance claims, registration of foreign judgements, dissolution of marriage, judicial review
- conducting an independent investigation into a workplace sexual harassment complaint including fact‑finding interviews, evidence assessment, and reporting
- acting in out-of-court settlements concerning insurance claims, lan debt recovery and employee entitlements
- appearing in court proceedings concerning debt recovery, breach of contract, divorce, liquidation, negligence and restoration of deregistered companies
- Member, Law Society of Papua New Guinea
- Member, Commonwealth Lawyers Association
- Young Commonwealth Lawyers Committee Representative – PNG Joint Seat, Commonwealth Lawyers Association
